Info you might find useful

Always book a wedding consultation (practice), this gives you and your bridal stylist time to get to know each other and your stylist gets a chance to see your hair. Always bring photos on your phone of what you like.

Your bridal stylist will go through each style with you and recommend what is best for your hair type. In a wedding hair practice your stylist is probably going to try 2-3 different up dos or down dos depending on what you have talked about in your consultation.

In this meeting you should be advised on how many weeks before your wedding on when you should have a hair cut and colour. Cut is recommended 3-4 weeks before your wedding date, this gives your hair time to adjust to its new length.

You could consider having an OLAPLEX treatment every week during the 6 weeks running up to your big day.

Some questions we get asked frequently:

Should I have my hair done 1st or my make up?

Typically we suggest your hair done 1st but I wouldn’t stress yourself out too much. It really doesn’t matter what order you go in.

When should I wash my hair?

Always wash your hair the day before the wedding. If you have really silky hair, skip the conditioner and try using a sulphate free shampoo.

How do I keep frizz away for my wedding day?

Frizz is something we all hate. The key is to keeping on top of your hair hydration before the big day are OLAPLEX treatments and moisture masks.

It’s all about you!

Your day is about you and sharing your day with your family and friends. At Em.J’s Hair Studio we are here to take the stress away and guide you for what is right for your hair type.

On your wedding typically your bridal stylist comes to you, whether that be in a hotel, your home, maybe a holiday house. Most of the time we travel, unless you prefer to come to the salon. During your consultation, you should arrange a time for your bridal stylist to arrive. This should also be confirmed a week before, just to check nothing had changed.

When we arrive we are there to make things easy for you and let's be honest, do our thing!

Here are a few things you should consider before your big day:

Payment - Most bridal stylists take a deposit to secure your booking. Further payments are normally pay before the day or on the day.

Photos - We live in a world where social media is a way for small businesses to advertise and promote our services. But yes, we understand if you don’t want us to take any photos. This should be discussed before your wedding to make sure you are happy with us taking photographs. Questions that should be asked are, are you happy with us taking pictures of your face? Or would you prefer just the back? Your stylist should always confirm that the pictures won't be published online until your wedding evening or the next day.

Your Veil - Don’t forget to ask your hair stylist if you want them to stay and put your veil on. I always find this is something everyone forgets about.

Most of all, don’t forget to enjoy yourself, live in the moment and take every second in.
